Native Dancer is the brain child of bass player Jonathan Harvey, keyboard player Sam Crowe and drum wizard Ulysees. With the later addition of vocalist Frida Touray and saxophone player Josh Arcoleo, these five sonic explorers have developed their own material in a process that attempts to dissolve boundaries and deny none of their influences, to create something fresh and exciting.
Through experimentations with psychedelic soundworlds, fusing influences from pop, soul, electronica, hiphop, trip-hop, be-bop and rock to Weather Report, Michael Jackson, Herbie Hancock, Meshell N’degocello and Frank Zappa, Native Dancer have created songs with explosive grooves and filthy beats; beautiful harmonic landscapes with progressive production and samples from the likes of Ron Burgundy, Bill Hicks and a Mayan elder.
All members of the band have worked with an array of artists from varying styles including Joss Stone, The Cinematic Orchestra, John Newman, The Pearces and many others which has afforded them the experience and understanding to bring together all the positive elements in their musical lives to create something new and inclusive to all listeners who crave something relevant to the now.
The music evokes ideas of parallel realities, a common element that connects everything and speaks to experiences beyond trivial love stories; ultimately promoting a message of peace and love.
